Sharing is caring!

Orchids are plants you need to try growing at least once in your gardening career! These exotic flowers come in vibrant colors that will make every corner of your house stunning.

Not to mention their perfect scent, a mix of vanilla and cinnamon! For those of you who love these sweet fragrances, orchids will definitely become your number one plants.

But let me tell you that growing orchids can become very challenging! When I first started growing them, it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine. I even thought that my orchids might stop blooming at all!

Every few weeks, new complications started showing up, but I didn’t give up. I started searching for some easy tricks that could help me save my orchids…and you won’t believe what happened next!

I came across some household products that help orchids, and a miracle happened. My orchids started to thrive! If you’re also facing problems with your orchids, then you’ll need to try these five products!

I’m sure you already have these products in your house, which is a big plus because you won’t have to spend money on them!

#1 Cinnamon Is The Perfect Natural Fungicide For Your Orchids

The number one problem that can affect your orchids is fungal disease! These diseases are dangerous because they can spread quickly, sometimes overnight, through your orchids.

When they are affected by this dangerous disease, their leaves start getting black or brown marks. Fungus can cover your entire plants and even stop your pretty orchid flowers from blooming

The first thing that will probably come to your mind when it comes to preventing and treating this disease is fungicides, which is a big no-no. Fungicides can cause more harm than good to every other plant, including your orchids!

That’s why your go-to should always be a natural option, and in this case that’s cinnamon. First you’ll need to trim all the leaves that are infected and then sprinkle your orchids with some ground cinnamon! After using it on your orchids a few times, you’ll see amazing results.

#2 Make A Garlic Tonic To Repel Pests

Aphids and mites are some of the most common pests, and they can damage your orchids in a very short period of time! These annoying pests will try to feed on orchid leaves (their favorite treat of the day), leaving you without their beautiful blooms.

To stop this from happening, it’s best to use garlic! This veggie is a great repellent for pests and can save your orchids in no time. I have a great recipe with garlic that I’m going to share with you!

All you need to do is crush a few cloves. After you’re done with this part, put the crushed cloves in water overnight. Then you should strain it into a bowl, take some cotton, dip it in, and wipe off your orchid leaves

Pests can’t stand the smell of garlic and by applying this tonic you’ll be able to drive them away for good!

#3 Say Goodbye To Yellow Leaves With Epsom Salt

There’s a lot of reasons behind yellow orchid leaves. Sometimes it can just mean that it is time for new leaves to come so the old ones start to naturally wilt. But on the other hand, yellowish leaves can be a sign of way more serious problems like overwatering or a lack of nutrients.

In that case there’s only one way to save your orchids – epsom salt! Epsom salt has every nutrient your plant needs and it can be your golden ticket for orchids to thrive.

The process is pretty simple. You’ll need to dissolve one tablespoon of epsom salt in water and mist your orchids with this magical potion that will do wonders! Make sure to use it only once a month.

#4 Don’t Throw Away Banana Peels, Save Them For Making Fertilizer

What’s the best way to encourage orchid’s wonderful flowers to bloom? Well, fertilizer can help you achieve that! If you forget to apply fertilizer, your orchids might become smaller, with not-so-good-looking flowers, and they will eventually stop producing their colorful blooms.

I know that this may sound ridiculous, but banana peels can be the perfect fertilizer for your orchids. You can use this amazing fertilizer on your orchids once every fifteen to twenty days!

These household products are sure to help your orchids! Whether they are dealing with fungal diseases, lack of nutrients, or watering issues, these amazing products will save your orchids and make them thrive!

The best part about these items is that they are free! Since you already have them at home, you won’t have to spend money on products that are much more expensive and can damage your orchids even more.

So, why wait when you can try them on your orchids today? Results will appear in no time, and your home will be beautified with stunning blooms. Your house will definitely have the prettiest flowers in the neighborhood!

Good luck!
