The good news is that you don’t need to worry about American Mountain Ash damaging your pipe infrastructure because its roots are pretty shallow.
But this means stormy weather can damage the tree. If you live in a region with frequent storms, it might be better to search for other tree types.

The American Mountain Ash is a sun-loving tree, so you’ll need to find a location that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. If it’s more, even better!
If you plant it in a partially shaded area, its growth rate may decrease significantly. From my experience, fertilizing the American Mountain Ash is a waste of time and money. It perfectly grows on its own and doesn’t need any extra nutrients.
There’s no need to water it as it can survive on rainfall only. Of course, if you live in warmer and drier regions, it’ll benefit from occasional watering.
