Sharing is caring!

Is your bathroom missing something? You have probably seen on TV or in magazines how people decorate their bathrooms with interesting mirror shapes, wallpapers, rugs, or textured towels. But is this all really necessary? I don’t think so!

There is one hidden gem, a plant that will transform your bathroom and at the same time benefit it. Today you’re going to discover the nerve plant (or fittonia, as I like to call it), the new star of your house!

A few years ago, I was searching for something to add to my bathroom. There were actually many indoor plants that I went through, but fittonia was the one that caught my eye! Later, I discovered that each time I showered or bathed, the humidity created the perfect conditions for my fittonia to thrive.

With that said, I want to show you the best tricks that will make your nerve plant thrive incredibly! Let’s make your rainforest-like room spectacular with a touch of nature from the nerve plant.

You Need To Try These Care Tips For Wonderful Results

Sometimes fittonia can become a big drama queen! There are cases where the nerve plant just stops blooming without any warning. But don’t worry, that won’t happen to your fittonia!

Luckily, I know some amazing tips and tricks that will make your nerve plant thrive for many years. Here’s what you’ll need to do!

  • Place your fittonia in a bright, shaded spot. Nerve plants like indirect light, and that’s why your bathroom is the perfect place for it. Just make sure that it is not completely dark because fittonia might lose its color!
  • Be careful with watering. Keeping fittonias moist might be a bit challenging! There’s only one rule you should follow, water them when the top inch of soil feels dry. Monitor your plant every few days just to make sure that it doesn’t dry out.
  • Keep your nerve plant warm. Since fittonia is a tropical plant, the ideal temperature is sixty to eighty degrees Fahrenheit.

Nerve plants thrive in high humidity, such as 50% to 70%. If the humidity level in your house is below this, you can mist it every other day or so. But by placing it in the bathroom, you will create perfect conditions!

  • Don’t forget to apply fertilizer. In the growing stage, you can feed your fittonia weekly to get loads and loads of new leaves! The best fertilizer you can use is a liquid one and also a balanced 5-5-5 fertilizer.

Just make sure to stop using fertilizer when winter arrives because the nerve plant will be in its dormant stage!

If You Want More Nerve Plants, Propagate Them This Way

All you have to do is take a stem with about four or five leaves on it and cut it with a nice sharp knife! After you’ve done that, place a few cuttings in a pot or in a glass filled with water.

Now, this can lead to a big debate on which will make roots spread faster!

I tried both options, and those that stayed in water spread their roots quicker than those in pots. But you can’t go wrong with whichever you decide to choose.

If you put them in water, make sure that after a few weeks you transplant the cuttings into the pot and water them along with the rest that stayed in the glass.

All that’s left is to place them back in the bathroom and use these care tips! You’ll get more beautiful flowers for your bathroom, which will give off real forest vibes.

Ready for your bathroom makeover? It will become your new favorite place in the house, all thanks to fittonia! Every time you go to take a shower, the nerve plant’s foliage will relax you with its forest-like look.

Now your bathroom will look like those cool inspiration photos from design magazines! With the help of these amazing tips and tricks, fittonia will thrive in your home for years. Isn’t that awesome?

You’ll also be able to multiply the nerve plant through propagation and create a whole little jungle in your bathroom! Well, what are you waiting for? It’s time to bring another beautiful plant into your house!

Good luck!
