If You Want More Gloxinia Blooms To Beautify Your Home, Try These Easy Tricks

Sharing is caring!

Have you been thinking about growing gloxinia indoors? Well, today is your lucky day! I happen to have some amazing tricks that will help you grow them in the easiest way possible!

When I see their bell-shaped flowers with pink, red, blue, and purple colors, I immediately picture how beautifully they will fit inside my home.

They brighten up my whole living room! Gloxinias are some of the most gorgeous flowers I’ve grown indoors. They are quite easy to grow, but as with most flowers, they require some specific needs. You’ll just need to bear in mind!

Simple Care Steps To Make Your Gloxinia Bloom Like Never Before

In the beginning, I thought it would be very difficult to grow gloxinias, but these tricks proved me wrong. So, here’s what you’ll need to do to make them thrive inside your home for months!

  • Be careful with the sunlight. Gloxinias need to be placed in a bright area but out of direct sun. I put mine near a sunny window, and it turned out to be a good place for them! Room temperature should be between 60 and 75°F.
  • Provide good drainage. Water gloxinias when the soil feels dry, and try not to wet their leaves, just the base of the plant. Since they are sensitive to cold water, you’ll need to use lukewarm water!
  • Apply fertilizer. You’ll need to provide them with fertilizer every two weeks while the flowers are blooming.

Don’t use a balanced one because it’s rich in nitrogen, which can cause gloxinia leaves to curl. Instead you should try to use a high-phosphorus, water-soluble fertilizer.

  • Give them a good haircut. If you want to get more of their colorful blooms, prune the spent flowers. After the blooming period, as the plant enters dormancy, trim back any wilting leaves.
  • Keep an eye out for pests. Aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites are some of the pests that will try to feed on this plant’s sap. You can use neem oil or insecticidal soaps to drive them away!

Try Growing Gloxinia From Seeds Because It’s Super Easy

As a gardening geek, I just had to try growing gloxinias from seeds! It was a challenge I gladly accepted. Guess what? I got all the work done within an hour!

And the good news is that you can plant them indoors at any time of the year. You can even start NOW! But first, let’s see the best method to do it.

Take the seeds and place them in a pot filled with African violet potting soil. Gently press the seeds into the soil and don’t cover them. They need to be exposed to the light for the seeds to germinate well.

Also, don’t allow the soil to dry out, water them daily. Seeds will germinate in fifteen to twenty days, and blooming takes six months! Pretty fast, right?

Ready to grow some gloxinias? With these useful tricks, you’ll be able to do so like a professional florist!

They will make an adorable aesthetic decoration for your home. Besides just looking good, they have the ability to relax you every time you get stressed from work.

Their stunning petals will create a little corner where you can make some tea and enjoy reading your favorite book. Isn’t that awesome? You’ll get your own little spot to enjoy every day! So, you should try these tips NOW and plant even more.

Good luck!
