Cleaning Up Leaves Will Become Your Favorite Task With These Super Easy Tricks

Sharing is caring!

Are you ready to start one of fall’s first tasks? This one is full of activities that will actually be fun to do! Cleaning all the leaves that fall from trees or shrubs is one of the important things you’ll need to do this autumn.

I also wasn’t a fan of cleaning up leaves in the beginning! Using a rake and going from one corner of the garden to another every day isn’t the only way of removing leaves. There’s much more that you can do!

I’m not saying that raking up the yard is wrong, it isn’t and I’m going to show you how you can do it in a very interesting way. But not only that! I’ve prepared a bunch of handy tricks for you to make cleaning up the leaves this autumn easy as pie!

If You Have a Small Garden, Remove Leaves By Hand

For those of you who don’t have a large garden, there’s no need to use a mower or leaf vacuum. You can simply pick up all the leaves that have fallen by hand!

There’s one game I used to play with my friends when we were little. Want to hear about it? My previous garden was so small that it barely fit four trees, so there weren’t many leaves to clean up.

Then, as kids, we made a competition out of it. Everyone started to collect leaves, and the person with the fullest bag at the end won! So give my idea a try, especially if you have kids. They will be entertained, and you’ll get a little help.

You Will Need To Check the Weather Forecast Daily

For this task, you should watch the weather and check if it is going to rain! Why? Well, if you rake after rainy days, leaves will turn slimy and stick to the ground. It’s best to put off raking until the clouds clear!

Sometimes, the weather can benefit you, too! If some of the leaves are stuck on the trees and you are scared of heights, the wind will save the day. It will blow all the remaining leaves off the trees! Isn’t that awesome?

These Are The Best Rakes You Should Use

By choosing the correct rakes, you’ll make cleaning up much easier! There are three types, plastic leaf rakes, lawn rakes, and garden rakes. Make sure to use the ones that suit you best. In my case, leaf rakes are doing an amazing job

It will also be a good idea to upgrade your rakes if you have had them for more than one or two years.

Your Lawn Needs Vacuuming Too!

It appears that, as well as the house, you’ll need to vacuum your lawn as well! Don’t worry, it’s not difficult at all. I’ve been using a leaf vacuum for years, and it’s a great thing!

If you don’t like mowing your lawn, then this is the perfect option. I also researched a little and found out that there are some leaf vacuums that also have the ability to shred all the leaves so you don’t have to!

Besides vacuums, there are also leaf blowers. You’ll just need to blow the leaves into one corner and collect them! But before you start, they need to be dried because that’s when leaf blowers work the best!

Use All The Leaves For Mulch After Mowing

Now grab your mower and start cleaning up all the leaves. Hold on! What should you do with all the leaves after you’ve finished?

Since the mower will shred all the leaves perfectly, you can use them as mulch! This will be ideal for the plants you’re planning to overwinter in your garden, as it will keep them safe from freezing.

The shredded leaves you’ll get can be also used in a compost! They have all the great nutrients that are ideal for your crops.

Time To Give Your Arms A Break And Set Up A Trap

You’ll definitely deserve some rest after all the hard work ahead! Relax, because there’s just one more task you’ll need to do. This time, you won’t be using your hands or walking around the garden – it’s all about setting a trap!

Here’s what you need to do. Lay a piece of plastic (medium-sized or large, depending on the size of your garden) across the grass.

Then, use a leaf blower or rake to gather the leaves onto the plastic. Once you’ve collected the leaves, simply fold up the plastic and carry it to your compost pile!

That’s all for today! I hope you enjoy these tasks for cleaning up the leaves. Thanks to these tricks, you’ll be able to keep your lawn clean with minimal effort!

Since autumn will be here very soon, there isn’t much time left! Get everything ready from this list that you think will work best in your garden and welcome the fall prepared.

Good luck!
