Here’s Why You Should Start Spraying Your Citrus Trees With Seaweed Extract ASAP

Sharing is caring!

Everyone loves gardens filled with sweetly scented blossoms. And I can’t deny that I’m a huge fan of them myself, but the absolute winners for me are citrus trees.

Their scent is incomparable, not to mention the tropical vibe they bring to my garden. No wonder I spend so much time fulfilling their needs and ensuring the best possible conditions. We all want our favorite green buddies to be as healthy as possible!

I’ve mainly struggled with fertilizing these plants, but that came to an end once I discovered a magical ingredient: seaweed extract!

If you’ve never used it or even heard of it, the things I’m about to tell you will definitely blow your mind…

Seaweed Extract Will Give Your Citrus Trees All The Nutrients They Need!

It’s actually pretty simple to understand why seaweed makes the best food for citrus trees. Plants can’t thrive without nutrients and citruses are not an exception.

Seaweed contains them all!

And this isn’t just a claim or the result of someone’s trial and error method. A study conducted on seaweed extract and its effect on citrus trees proved that this substance enhances bloom and fruit production.

The best thing is that this is a completely natural type of fertilizer because it’s derived from the Ascophyllum nodosum kelp. It predominantly grows in the northern seas.

I know that some of you are concerned about exploiting different natural resources but this is actually beneficial for the environment. You see, this kelp is considered invasive in some areas, and extracting it decreases the danger for this same environment.

Ingredients found in seaweed will improve the growth of your lemons, limes, and oranges! One of the problems with these trees is that they’re susceptible to fruit drop. Luckily, seaweed can help with that!

Fruits won’t be smaller and there will be so many of them for you and for your friends to share!

And if you have some mangos or strawberries in your garden, you can add some seaweed extract to them, too! This is indeed a hidden gem in the gardening world.

This Is How You Use Seaweed For Your Citrus Trees

I’m sure you can’t wait to find out how to use this substance on your citruses! Don’t worry, I won’t keep you waiting.

First things first, if you want this method to work, you need to apply the solution once a month throughout the year.

One of the ways to use it is to purchase a ready seaweed extract foliar spray. It’s pretty easy to use and suitable for beginner citrus growers.

While this method does work, I found something even better. I’m sure you’ll be delighted to hear that you can save some money because ready products always cost more.

I purchase the powdered seaweed extract and dilute it in water before using it. But saving money isn’t the only benefit of this technique.

You’ll most likely need to buy more foliar sprays because they’re already diluted and you’re paying more for packaging. This means more waste and ecological harm!

Instead of ending up with numerous plastic bottles, you can get a 10-pound bag of seaweed extract and make about 65 gallons of liquid fertilizer!

You’ll have enough seaweed extract for all your citruses and also for other plants that need a little nutrient boost.

Are you ready to embark on a seaweed extract journey? I’m sure you’re gonna make it and have an abundant yield of the healthiest and most delicious citrus fruits you could ever imagine!
