Problems You Might Face When Growing Cinnamon

Sharing is caring!

Who doesn’t like delicious cinnamon rolls? Cinnamon is one of the greatest spices and a must-have in every kitchen!

Unfortunately, you need to be careful with a few things while growing it. But don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you can’t try planting it!

I also faced some issues when I tried to grow cinnamon. Boy, it was quite an experience! But after I discovered a few tips and tricks, there were no more threats to my plant’s health. That’s why you should keep a close eye on your cinnamon so you can catch any diseases that might ruin it!

It Might Attract Unwelcome Visitors To Your Garden

The amazing scent of these plants attracts pests. You should watch out for cinnamon butterflies, mites, leaf miners, and mealybugs. They love feeding on the plant’s leaves.

You can get rid of them by using neem oil. Just be careful and wear gloves while spraying it on the leaves. Ever since I started using this natural repellent, every pest that tried to stay on my herbs has run away in the blink of an eye!

After driving them away, keep an eye out in case they return, and try using insecticidal soaps if they do. You need to be more persistent than the pests! In the end, you’ll be the one who wins. Later, you can reward yourself with some cinnamon cookies!

Cinnamon Trees Can Easily Get Infected

Unfortunately, cinnamon trees can be very sensitive to different kinds of diseases, especially fungal ones. Leaf spot, stripe canker, seedling blight, and anthracnose might affect your plant. You may notice brown leaves if these diseases take hold!

That’s why it’s important to regularly prune any damaged branches or leaves. This helps keep your plant safe and sound all season long!

I have a friendly piece of advice, disinfect your shears after pruning your cinnamon. This helps prevent the spread of disease to other plants.

You can also use a fixed copper fungicide by covering all the affected surfaces. I used it last year when my cinnamon caught a fungal disease. You should get a 1% Bordeaux mixture because it’s safe and won’t burn the tree!

You are now ready to grow cinnamon, so don’t worry about whether it will succeed or not. There will always be pests trying to ruin your plant. But with these tips, you’ll be able to get rid of them for good!

Your cinnamon will bloom perfectly in your garden. After you harvest it, you can add it to your desserts! Look for some recipes and experiment a little! Don’t you want your kitchen to be filled with the amazing scent of cinnamon?
