Make Fall Fun For Kids By Growing Their All-Time Favorite Plants

Sharing is caring!

It’s time to make your kids little gardeners! Fall is the perfect season to keep children entertained. There are so many amazing plants that are easy to grow, and your kids will love them!

I remember the first time I was introduced to planting, growing, and caring for plants. Although I was little, I remember everything my mother taught me! Days spent in the garden were my favorite. I still have a photo of myself with a planter, posing like a real professional!

If your children have some free time between school and homework, you should definitely grow these plants with them. They are favorites among kids. Planting together will be fun, with lots of ‘What is this, Mommy?’ moments, laughter, and learning!

If Your Kids Love To Decorate Cookies, Grow Pansies

If you have little chefs who love cooking with you, pansies are perfect! Besides their lovely appearance, these plants are actually edible

Next time your kids are helping with baking cookies, tell them to go outside and pick a few petals from the pansies to add to the cookies.

Your kids love being involved in everything you do, so when you say it’s dessert time, they’ll rush to the garden and immediately start picking petals to help you decorate!

Pansies are easy to grow. Just place them in partial sun, giving them morning sunlight while avoiding the heat of the late afternoon, and water them twice a day!

Invite Pollinators Kids Will Love To Your Garden By Planting Asters

Kids love seeing visitors like butterflies and pollinators in the garden. If your little ones enjoy watching them flutter around your yard, then you should grow asters!

Tell them to help you plant this flower and watch the smile on their faces when you explain that asters will attract pollinators. They’ll be so excited that they’ll rush outside with their little planters.

Most asters will grow in full sun, but some varieties can tolerate a bit of shade. For watering, you should do it once a week.

Introduce Your Little Ones To Herbarium By Creating One With This Lovely Flower

Calendula is another great plant that your kids will be obsessed with! The best thing about this flower is using it to make a herbarium. My kids have three shelves full of dried blossoms.

Plant them together, pick a few after they grow, and show your kids how to dry calendula. Wait until the process is completely done. It’s also great for awakening their creative side!

After the kids see how beautiful the herbarium looks, they’ll constantly ask you to help them make one when the growing season starts.

These flowers need to be placed in full sun to partial shade. Water them only once a week.

This Mystical Flower Will Be A Halloween Favorite For Kids

Who doesn’t love Halloween? Even I enjoy dressing up as my favorite movie character and going trick-or-treating with my kids!

If you’re looking for Halloween decorations beyond pumpkins, penny black flowers are an ideal choice! Their magical appearance, with black petals and a hint of white, makes for excellent decorations. Kids love playing around these flowers, it’s just like a scene from a cartoon for them!

These plants are drought-tolerant and do well in the sun. Keep them watered every week.

Let’s See If Your Kids Will Love Spinach After A Fun Growing Adventure

Kids can be a bit hard to please when it comes to spinach for lunch! My kids also didn’t like this veggie until I took them to the garden. I gave them a planter and showed them how to plant it.

Later, I explained how to take care of this delicious vegetable.

Once it was fully grown, I tried to make meals, but they came to me and asked when it would be ready. I was shocked but also happy because my kids wanted to try something they had proudly grown. So, if your kids aren’t big fans of spinach, you should try this tactic (it actually works)!

Spinach can tolerate partial shade, but it’s best to place it in a sunny part of your garden. Water it with a small amount every week.

Sounds like this fall will be full of fun activities! Growing plants together with your kids is a great way to connect, teach, and enjoy time with them. You will create so many wonderful memories that they’ll remember for their whole life.

Who doesn’t enjoy watching their kids plant their favorite flowers and be little gardeners? I even bought my child a gardening set that includes a planter, gloves, a watering can, and a tiny rake. Isn’t that the cutest thing? You should also get one and start a new adventure with your kids!
