I’ve had a pond in my garden for years. But, boy, my search for the right flowers didn’t go well! Until I took a walk to the lake near my house and discovered marsh marigolds, that is! There’s no need to worry about growing and planting them, that’s the easiest part!

After seeing them bloom, I was speechless! They stole the spotlight in my backyard.Their lovely yellow petals are a must-have in the springtime!

Fairy Tale Garden, Here We Come

You can start planting in August. Choose a sunny spot with afternoon shade, take a few chunks of the plant, and place them near your pond.

Space the flowers 18 to 24 inches apart and cover them with soil. After that, make sure to give your marigolds a good watering. Nothing too difficult, right?

Now you just need to take good care of your flowers. It will only take a few months until the yellow petals start to show up!

Growing Tips You Need To Try

Marsh marigolds are very low-maintenance! You won’t need to spend hours by your pond taking care of them.

Marsh marigolds only need to be watered if the soil is dry. These plants will thrive amazingly in the muddy conditions around your pond.

As for pests, there’s nothing to worry about. The bitter taste of the marigolds repels them! That’s why you won’t spot deer nibbling on the yellow petals.

You will only need to trim your marsh marigolds if wilting appears. Until then, there’s no need to cut their beautiful flowers! Good news for those of you whose least favorite task is pruning!

Marsh Marigolds Are Not Pet-Friendly

Unfortunately, these flowers can be toxic to cats and dogs. But here’s some good news: you don’t have to give up on planting them! There’s a simple hack you can try! Install a high fence so that acrobatic kittens or curious dogs can’t reach the marsh marigolds.

I also planted catnip and provided lots of tennis balls to keep my pets occupied and prevent them from wandering into the marigolds!

You will also need to avoid touching marsh marigolds. Their leaves may cause skin irritation. Admire them from a distance and keep your hands to yourself!

Get ready for spectacular growth after planting these lovely flowers! Your garden will look like a scene from a Bambi cartoon. Surrounded by a charming pond and stunning flora!

I couldn’t believe how great they fit into my yard! With good care, they’ll return to blooming every year. Your pond won’t be lonely anymore! Instead, it will be filled with yellow petals!
