Take A Look At These 4 Stunning Flowers That Will Happily Bloom In Clay Soil

Sharing is caring!

There’s no better feeling than waking up early in the summer, sipping iced coffee, and getting ready for planting!

But before diving into your favorite part, you need to check the ground. Take the moist earth from your garden and squeeze it. If you open your hand and see that it still holds its shape, you’re lucky because that is clay soil!

You need to be careful because not every plant thrives in that type. However, these four amazing blossoms do! It’s time to step out of your comfort zone and try planting them in your newly discovered clay soil!

Let’s get started!

#1 Hydrangeas Will Bring A Cottage Vibe To Your Garden

Hydrangeas are the perfect match for clay soil. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with this one! These amazing bushes will beautify your garden until late summer. Hydrangeas come in pink, white, and blue.

When planting hydrangeas in clay soil, choose a sunny spot because they are sun-lovers! As for watering, you’ll only need to do it twice a week. Thanks to clay soil, which retains more moisture than other types, you won’t need to visit the garden every day to refresh them.

You can also try companion plants for hydrangeas. These flowers love to bloom in your garden alongside other plants!

It’s like clay soil is doing all the extra work in the yard for you. Pretty good, right?

#2 Create A Romantic Landscape With Old-Fashioned Roses

Wouldn’t you like the beautiful scent of roses to grace your garden all summer long?

But first, let’s see what shades you can find them in. Red, pink, white, yellow, and orange are the most common rose colors. Just imagine the bouquet you could create and surprise your loved ones with!

Before digging a hole in clay soil for planting roses, check which spot gets at least six hours of full sun. If your garden is all-inclusive and has areas with shade too, then it’s a five-star hotel for roses. It’s enough to water them every three or four days

That’s all the work you need to do. Pretty easy, right?

#3 Boost Your Health By Planting Aronia

If you want to live a healthy lifestyle, plant aronia! You’ll have a small pharmacy in your garden without spending money on expensive health products!

Aronias are rich in vitamin C, calcium, iron, and magnesium. They will help normalize your blood pressure and support your immune system.

You can make tea from them, tasty jams, and juice. Every year I make aronia jam for pancakes! Trust me, that’s the most delicious dessert you’ll ever taste. So, give it a try!

Aronia needs to grow in full sun to partial shade. Place them in your garden somewhere they’ll get at least six hours of light! It’s best to water them in the morning as that’s when their roots absorb water the best.

#4 Bergenia Will Continue To Glow Even In Winter

Now it’s time for my all-time favorite! When you see how pretty this flower is even in winter, it will become your favorite too! In spring and summer, the flowers are pink, in winter they are green, and in autumn they turn into red and bronze shades. Fascinating, right?

These flowers are quite adaptable! They can thrive in sun or shade; wherever you place them, Bergenias will be happy! This plant is drought-resistant, so there’s no need for constant watering. Water them only when you see that the soil is dry.

You’ve seen how beneficial clay soil actually is, even though some gardeners say it’s not good for plants. But when it comes to these flowers, you don’t need to worry because they go perfectly well together with clay!

Now it’s time to add a pop of color to your clay soil! By doing this, your flower bed will look like it’s from a fairy tale garden.

Good luck!
