Sharing is caring!

You planted tomatoes, and now you’re happily waiting for the fruits to start growing! This can be the most exciting part of your journey… until something strange starts to appear on your tomatoes. Every gardener’s nightmare!

Last season, my veggies weren’t at their best. I noticed black scabs on the bottom of my veggies. That annoying scab that was trying to ruin my tomato is called blossom end rot! Well, I couldn’t just watch my plants wither away. I knew I had to do something about it immediately!

After a few cups of coffee, some observation, and a little research, I found the solution. The key is to spot the first symptoms. By doing that, you’ve done half the work, and it will be much easier to treat the sick tomatoes! If only I had known this earlier!

Keep Your Eyes On The Tomatoes Daily

Tomato blossom end rot begins in the early stages of growth! Right after the tiny fruit starts to form. You will notice a small spot that keeps turning into a large, rotten one! It will continue to grow until it covers half of your fruit.

Then your tomato’s color will begin to change from yellow to black. Sometimes, it can appear at the blossom end or even inside the fruit.

Besides affecting the appearance of your veggies, it will also make them less tasty. That’s why you’ll need to outsmart this disease! You’ll need to regularly visit your garden and check the plants.

Treatment Methods That Will Rescue Your Rotting Tomatoes

After you’ve learned the symptoms, it’s time to help your tomatoes! It’s nothing scary because these tricks for saving them are pretty easy. You won’t need any chemicals to get rid of the rot. Luckily, there are natural and handy ways to get the job done perfectly!

Prune affected roots. If you don’t cut them, the disease will spread to other fruits. It’s better to do a good trim than to lose all the tomatoes in your garden.

So, get your scissors and head straight to your veggies! Also, don’t forget to clean your tools after you’ve done the work!

Provide calcium to the plants . Lack of this mineral is one of the biggest causes of rot. That’s why it’s important to ensure they get it.

Testing the soil can help your tomatoes. If the test shows low calcium levels, start using sprays based on this mineral. I even tried crushed eggshells, and I can tell you, they worked great!

• Water the tomatoes . The best way to prevent rot is by watering. These veggies thrive in moist soil. Keep them refreshed every three or four days.

You can also try using sprinklers. They are ideal if you have a busy day and no time for this task. Set them up, and they will do their job well.

• Use mulch . Another excellent way to retain moisture! You can try natural ones like shredded newspapers. This can play a big role in suppressing rot because it provides perfect growing conditions for your tomatoes.

When veggies are healthy, there’s no sign of disease!

These methods for preventing tomatoes from rotting are excellent, right? By spotting the signs early, you’ll be able to treat them right away! If you follow these tricks, you’ll have the juiciest tomatoes ready for the kitchen. Imagine the aroma of the dishes you can make!

They were really helpful for me. Not only did I manage to cure this disease, but I also succeeded in growing the best tomatoes so far! Now, everything is in your hands!

Good luck!
