Timing lines up nicely with aphid season. Fresh alfalfa, wheat, and garden growth arrive right as hungry beetles land.

Here is a practical note for gardeners. Bags of lady beetles sold at garden centers are often harvested from mountain aggregations in western states.

Building habitat works better. Plant yarrow, dill, alyssum, and cosmos, keep a shallow water dish with pebbles, and go easy on sprays.
