6. Phosphorus Can Leave The Garden With Runoff And Eroding Soil

Phosphorus behaves quite differently from nitrogen once it enters the soil. Rather than moving freely with water, phosphorus tends to bind tightly to fine soil particles, which keeps it from leaching downward through most soils the way nitrate nitrogen does.
